OPPOSITION MOTM – Luke Melia
Postal welcomed Burghmuir to Webster Park with some enforced changes. With Murray Hunter on holiday and Nick Willey unavailable Travis Raynard and Steven Abel came into the side.
The game kicked off and both sides were evenly matched. In the 10th minute a throw in on the postal left was worked into Melia who shot and it struck the defenders hand. The referee had no hesitation in awarding a penalty which Melia himself dispatched. 1-0
Postal wouldn’t hold onto the lead for long though and a corner from the postal right was met by the Burgmuir number 10 who bulleted his header into the net on 13 minutes. 1-1
On 15 minutes Melia doubled his tally for the evening, meeting a James Steele corner

Burghmuir would then go on to have a couple of half chances working the ball well down the left hand side. Firstly number 7 broke into the box and hammered a first time shot towards goal which Walker done well to tip over. Following this, number 11 broke into the box however his shot was blocked by Giulianotti.
With the half looking like it was going to end up a draw, Bruce Webster stepped up with a great volley into the roof of the net from 18 yards out. Great goal and even better timing. 3-1
Halftime - Postal ALC 3 - Burghmuir 1
Postal started the second half on the front foot, pushing to get the 4th goal.
On 47min Bruce Webster was played in by Melia, his shot blocked for a corner. The resultant corner was met by Barry Patterson but was well over the target. On 51 min postal again almost claimed the 4th goal, a James Steele cross just out of Lukes reach.
On 65 min a simple through ball was miskicked by Dowbekin and the number 10 broke down the left wing, his cross was met by the number 11 who swivelled and shot into the top right hand corner. 3-2.
At this point Burghmuir were very much the team in control and Postal had to defend on the edge of their box. The management team made changes with Pete coming on for Abel.
On 70 minutes Dowbekin played the ball out from right back and broke up the pitch, his cross was met by Bruce webster who headed in for Postals 4th and his second of the game. 4-2.
Postal again scored when the Burghmuir defended sent a tired back pass to his keeper, Frampton raced onto it and slammed the ball into the net 5-2.
Postal were playing some great football and again scored in the 80th minute with Clark netting to make it 6-2.
The final goal was a real collectors item, Collie replacing Giulianotti at the heart of the defence collected the ball from a throw in 35 yards out and lashed the ball into the goal. A great strike. 7-2
Overall, a great display from Postal against an established opponent.
