Fyvie 3 - Postal A.L.C. 1 - Saturday 5th Sep 2026 - Stephen Shield

Postal headed into this one looking to bounce back from a defeat to Glendale.

The last time these two sides met, Postal came out on top in a thrilling 4-3 victory, and we’ll be hoping for another positive result against Fyvie.

Postal kicked the game off.

Postal started brightly, with Webster controlling well before slipping Wallace through, although his touch was just too heavy and the Fyvie goalkeeper gathered.

At the other end, Clark and Hunter combined well to win the ball and start a Postal counter. Hach then slipped McAuley through, but a Fyvie defender recovered well to prevent the chance.

Fyvie began to grow into the game and Graham was called into action on 14 minutes after a missed header allowed Fyvies’ number nine through. The Postal goalkeeper made an excellent save. Just two minutes later, Graham was again called upon to deny a dangerous flick-on.

However, Postal were punished on 17 minutes. Failure to clear the ball allowed a Fyvie midfielder to strike from distance, with the effort looping over Graham to give the hosts the lead.

Fyvie 1-0 Postal

Postal responded almost immediately. A long ball from Riddell was missed by the Fyvie defender, allowing Hach to race through. He showed great composure to slot the ball beyond the goalkeeper and bring Postal level.

The game remained open, but Fyvie restored their advantage on 23 minutes. A switch of play found their number 28, whose shot was blocked by Veitch. The ball looped in the air and Fyvie’s. number 11 produced a terrific overhead kick into the bottom corner.

Fyvie 2-1 Postal

Postal continued to look dangerous. Hach delivered a good cross after excellent work from Walker, but McAuley’s effort was blocked. Webster then dragged an effort wide from a Wallace corner.

Fyvie’s number nine continued to cause problems, but Graham made another good save to keep Postal in the game.

Postal had a huge opportunity shortly before half-time when an mis-kick from a Fyvie defender sent McAuley through. Unfortunately, he took too long and the defender managed to recover.

There was also controversy on 44 minutes when Hach was brought down while running through on goal, but despite the disbelief of the Postal players and sideline, the referee waved play on.

Wallace then laid the ball off to McAuley but his long-range effort curled just wide.

HT Fyvie 2-1 Postal

A frustrating first half for Postal. There were positives going forward, with Hach causing problems and Postal creating opportunities.

At 2-1 down, Postal were right in the game and would have felt we had enough to get back on level terms in the second half.

Fyvie got the second half underway.

Postal started the second half with intent. Mcauley slipped the ball through to Wallace, whose effort was comfortably held by the Fyvie keeper.

On 55 minutes, Riddell produced an excellent delivery which found Webster, but the Fyvie goalkeeper pulled off a great save to deny him.

Just a minute later, Postal came agonizingly close again. A short corner eventually found Wallace whose delivery cannoned back off the cross bar.

Fyvie threatened at the other end, with their number 28 forcing another good save from Graham after a dangerous move.

Then came the decisive moment on 66 minutes. A Fyvie corner wasn’t properly cleared and their number 9 spun brilliantly before finish past Graham

A Riddell free kick on 70 minutes forced another good save from the Fyvie goalkeeper, before Wallace’s resulting corner once again struck the crossbar.

Wallace was booked shortly after, while Veitch also received a yellow.

Postal had another huge opportunity on 80 minutes when Webster delivered brilliantly and Jones connected, but his effort was dragged wide.

Fyvie continued to threaten late on, with their number 28 forcing another strong save from Graham in the 90th minute.

Despite Postal’s efforts, the final whistle brought another frustrating result.

A disappointing result for Postal, particularly given some of the chances created.

We know we will need to be more clinical in front of goal and much more disciplined when defending our box if we are to turn performances into results
