A damp Monday night at Webster Park saw Postal play their 6th game of the season against a BSFC team who have got off to a good start this season with 4 out of 5 wins.

Postal couldn't have got off to a worse start if they tried when on 42 seconds they conceded. A simple enough looking cross from left to right saw Maciver out-muscled at the back post and the resultant header sailed into the net. Possibly a foul but we should be stronger. 0-1.

With Postal seemingly still in shock, BSFC doubled their lead 5 minutes later when the impressive number 8 waltzed through the Postal midfield and defence unchallenged, played a nice 1-2 and dispatched. Far far too easy a goal to give away from a Postal perspective. 0-2.

Against the run of play Postal had a great chance to score. Malseed was sent through one-on-one with the keeper but his early attempt at a chip shot went well wide.

The next 15 minutes never got much better as BSFC battered down the Postal right with ex-Postie Billy Laws being given time and space to overlap, causing mayhem. Postal got very lucky on one of these occasions when Maciver took a wild swipe/foul deemed to be just outside the box but on another day with another ref it could well have been a penalty.

This seemed to be the moment the game swung. From now on, Postal came into the game. Don't know if BSFC had decided to defend their lead or if they simply ran out of steam but the overlaps stopped from the BSFC full backs and their midfield were no longer the force they had been in the previous 25 minutes.

Postal got a foothold in the game on 28 minutes. A freekick from the Postal right was met by captain Patterson and his header snuck in at the keepers left hand post for his second of the season. 1-2.

A Steven Carter run forward from defence on 43 minutes almost saw Postal get an equaliser but his left foot shot went just over the bar.

HALF TIME - Postal ALC 1 - BSFC 2

The second half was all Postal but the shooting was poor. The management and subs spent most of the time collecting balls from behind the goal as the shots rained over the bar and wide of the posts.

Postal got a deserved equaliser when Maciver was sent one-on-one with the keeper. He calmly rounded him and at a tight angle netted from the Postal right. Good goal. 2-2.

Postal were by far the better team now as BSFC got deeper and deeper. Free kick after free kick was launched into the box but the BSFC defenced did well to keep the ball out the net.

Postal thought they had won the game 40 minutes into the second half when the ball dropped to Malseed just inside the 6 yard box but his shot lacked any real power and bounced away to safety.

FULL TIME - Postal ALC 2 - BSFC 2

Overall a very poor start to the match from Postal but all credit for the recovery tonight. Against a BSFC team who have won four out of 5 before tonights match, Postal finished the stronger team and would feel hard done by not to walk away with maximum points.
