OPPOSITION MOTM – B.Patterson
For the second weekend in succession, Postal arrived at a sunny Aultons pitches. This week’s opposition Ferryhill, now unfortunately sitting at the bottom of the league after Postals defeat to Bon Accord the previous weekend.
It would soon become apparent that there would be no similar slipups today.
Postal took the lead in the first minute of the match to settle any nerves. A bouncing ball in the opposition box saw Hunter try a speculative overhead lob which sailed over the keepers head and into the far corner. 0-1.
On 11 minutes, a quick throw in from Insch was latched onto by Davidson. His shot went just over the bar.
A minute later and a good overlap from Stuart saw Insch pick up the ball, cut inside and get away a decent low shot but the keeper saved at his right hand post.
A good strong tackle by Carter on 29 minutes got the next moving going. Insch took it into the box and set up Maciver. His initial shot was saved and his second effort was cleared off the line.
5 minutes later and Postal doubled their lead. A ball over the top was met by Davidson who calmly slotted under the keeper. 0-2.
On 37 minutes the Ferryhill keeper produced another good save, this time from a long distance effort from Law.
On 40 minutes, a blatant hand ball in the Ferryhill box was waved play on by the ref to deny Postal a stonewall pen.
Postal could have wrapped it up on 41 minutes when Davidson found himself one-on-one with the keeper but the keeper saved again.
HALF TIME – Ferryhill 0 - POSTAL ALC 2
The second half was much the same story. Postal having lots of attacks but the home keeper doing well to keep all out the net.
On 5 minutes a good tackle by Law saw the ball being played out to Cain. His shot went by the post with only the keeper to beat.
A minute later and it was another shot saved by the keeper after a good run by Insch played in Davidson whose shot was saved, this time by the keepers feet.
On 15 minutes Law unselfishly played the pass to Cain who kept his composure to score at the back post. 0-3.
Cain nearly scored again on 17 minutes after a great run by Insch. His chipped pass found Cain at the back post but his volley went wide.
Cotovici had a shot saved on 25 minutes and Patterson had a header over the bar on the 90th minute but there would be no more scoring.
Overall a much better performance today and, but for the home keeper keeping Postal at bay, the score-line would have also been a lot better. Well done. Next up Auchnagatt at home.
