Postal started brightly, with Clark winning a free kick on the edge of the box inside the opening two minutes. Steeler’s resulting delivery found Phillips, whose header was straight at the Dunfermline goalkeeper.


The hosts began to threaten as the half progressed, with their number 17 forcing Walker into a good save in the fifth minute. Dunfermline also saw a header go narrowly wide before Walker did well to punch a dangerous corner clear.


The deadlock was eventually broken in the 21st minute. Dunfermline’s number 17 found space on the edge of the box before firing a powerful effort into the bottom corner to give the hosts the lead.


Postal responded strongly. In the 27th minute, McAuley worked the ball into a dangerous position out wide and delivered into the box. Clark showed excellent determination to win the ball from his marker before calmly finishing past the goalkeeper to level the score.

Postal continued to grow into the game, and their pressure paid off again in the 37th minute. Clark played an excellent through ball to McAuley, who showed composure to slot the ball beyond the goalkeeper and complete the turnaround.

McAuley almost added another shortly afterwards, forcing the goalkeeper into a comfortable save. At the other end, Walker remained alert, getting to the ball ahead of Dunfermline’s number nine after the striker had been played through.


Postal finished the half strongly, with McAuley once again getting in behind the Dunfermline defence in the 44th minute, only for the goalkeeper to make an important save.

Postal came out firing after the break and extended their advantage just one minute into the second half. Clark once again caused problems, winning possession before cutting the ball back to Wallace, who smashed a powerful finish into the roof of the net.

Dunfermline attempted to respond, but Postal’s defence stood firm, with Phillips making an important headed clearance after the ball looped dangerously inside the box.


Wallace continued to threaten, beating his man before sending an effort narrowly wide in the 54th minute.


Postal’s fourth goal arrived in the 67th minute. Wallace’s free kick was blocked by the wall, but the loose ball fell kindly to Walker, who beat his man before lashing the ball beyond the goalkeeper.

Dunfermline continued to look for a way back into the game, but Postal remained in control. Robb’s cross in the 77th minute gave Jones an opportunity, although the Dunfermline goalkeeper produced another good save.


The closing stages saw yellow cards for Burns and H. Stewart, before Postal were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute after Jones was brought down inside the box.


Steele stepped up and confidently dispatched the spot-kick to put the result beyond any doubt.

The referee soon brought proceedings to an end, confirming an emphatic away victory for Postal.
