Bon Accord 3 - Postal A.L.C 1 - Aberdeen FC Trophy - Rubislaw - Saturday 26th September 2026

Postal travelled to Rubislaw to take on Bon Accord City in the AFC Trophy.  The two sides met in Division 2 last season with Postal winning at home and Bon Accord winning the return fixture.  Bon Accord have been on a great run at present so Postal knew they would have a tough game on their hands.  Postal started as below.

Bon Accord kicked off the encounter.

Bon Accord had a corner kick on the 14^th minute that drifted wide and out of play however the home team started the brighter of the two teams.

The Bon Accord keeper was kicking long and Postal were struggling to deal with the long balls.  On the 16^th minute a Bon Accord forward pressed the Postal defence and found himself one on one with Brechin in goal.  Brechin managed to narrow the angle and the attacker cross from his strike partner however the ball went over his head and away to safety.

16^th minute a through ball found the energetic Bon Accord forward however he stabbed the ball wide one on one with Brechin.  A real let off.

Bon Accord were pressing Postal all over the pitch as Postal looked lethargic.

20^th Min a Webster cross from the Postal left was headed to the edge of the box, the ball bounced to Wallace who volleyed wide.

25^th min Postal continued to try and play football.  A diagonal ball from Veitch found Wallace who played a one two with Steele then released a shot on goal that the Bon Accord keeper saved with ease.

On the 27^th min Bon Accord took the lead.  A through ball behind Veitch was taken in by the Bon Accord striker, he took on Hamilton and as Veitch blocked the initial shot with a great sliding tackle the ball fell to the forward who passed the ball into the net.

Wallace had a long range shot on the 29^th minute which the keeper saved. 

31^st min Bon Accord had a free kick on the Postal left hand side, the ball was played to number 28 who shot over the bar.

33^rd min a Postal corner from the right was met by Webster on the volley who shot over the bar.

Postal were now playing some good football, with Mackie driving the team on in midfield.  Good link up play between Wallace and Steele seen the Postal captain slip in Harley however the striker couldn’t reach the through ball.

35^th min a great cross by Webster found Harley all alone in the box however failed to get any power on his shot and the keeper saved.

36^th min Webster fed the ball into Stewart who spun and shot however the ball went wide from 20 yards out.

40^th min a crude tackle on Hamilton resulted in a free kick to Postal.

After the opening 20 minutes Postal were playing some good football, the management team asked the team to continue and commit more bodies forward into the box.

Bon Accord would extend their lead on the 52^nd minute.  A corner was not challenged and nodded down to number 28 who had all the time in the world to spin and smash the ball home.

Postal pulled one back when Hachi raced down the line and the Bon Accord Centre half turned the ball into his own net.

The game was over as a contest on the 80^th min when Burns gave away a free kick 20 yards out that the Bon Accord player put in the top corner.

Lack of intensity from Postal all over the pitch.  Failure to challenge, run or work for each other resulted in a 3 – 1 loss.  Bon Accord worthy winners.
