OPPOSITION MOTM – S.Robertson

Postal took on a rejuvenated Bon Accord this weekend at Aulton pitches. The home side have been putting in some decent performances in recent weeks without picking up the points.

Postal, short of defenders, drafted in ex-player Mark Goonan to help out with Carter starting the game in midfield and Nicolson starting at left back.

Postal had the first of the chances. Hunter broke through the offside trap to find himself one-on-one with the keeper but he fluffed his effort.

5 minutes later and the home side took the lead. The defence had a couple of chance to clear their lines but didn’t. The ball broke to the edge of the box and the home player hit a worldy past the unsighted Laing from about 25 yards out. Not much we could have done with the shot but the ball should have been cleared much better initially. 1-0.

On 20 minutes Hunter had an almost identical chance to his earlier effort. Keeper saved to deny the midfielder again.

Postal equalised on 32 minutes. A cross from Dowbekin on the Postal left was knocked down by Cotovici into the path of Patterson who swiveled and smashed the ball home. 1-1.

HALF TIME – Bon Accord 1 - POSTAL ALC 1

Postal got out of jail a minute into the half. A short back pass to keeper Laing saw him come out and dive at the forwards feet. It looked like a pen all day long but the ref waved play on the keeper went on to make a double save. Well done in the end but more than a tad lucky.

On 15 minutes, Maciver scored Postal’s second. A good run into the box by Carter sent the ball into the patch of Maciver who composed himself to score.

Bon Accord equalised 20 minutes into the second half. Striker turned Hunter like he wasn’t there and fired home. 2-2.

Postal put on all their forwards in an effort to get the winner but it would be Bon Accord who would snatch the winner with the last kick of the ball.

A free kick into the Postal box saw really poor marking as the ball sailed over Insch’ head to his man but the ball went out for a throw. Postal completely switched off, allowed the ball to be crossed in from the left into the 6 yard box where another unmarked man toe poked it home for the winner.

Really poor defending.

Overall no lack of effort but another day with a distinct lack of quality all round.
