After driving rain all night and all morning, this Div2 North game was surprisingly called ON, much to the delight of Postal who had a full squad today.

With Macanespie, Taylor, Sheils and Clark missing from last weeks starting 11, Stuart came in at right mid, Insch returned to left mid, Malseed up front joined by last weeks match winner, Chris Cook.

Postal started the game reasonably well and were well on top in the opening ten minutes of the game with Auchnagatt defending for the most part. The pitch and weather didn't lend to free flowing football but Postal were certainly playing the better of the two sides.

A Malseed volley on 4 minutes went high and wide after a decent cross from Stuart on the right was only half cleared and fell to the front man 12 yards out.

On 11 minutes Postal gifted the home side the opener. A simple enough deep cross to the back post saw the Postal keeper glued to his line and when Carter allowed himself to be bullied off the ball on the byline the forward knocked the cross into the path of an unmarked striker to blast home from 6 yards out. Disappointingly easy goal to gift. 1-0.

Malseed had a good shot saved 3 minutes later as Postal attempted to get a quick equaliser.

On 17 minutes Postal had another decent chance to equalise. Strong running by Law saw him feed the ball to Stuart on the right but his side foot shot went sailing over the bar.

The home side doubled their lead 30 minutes into the game, having defended for most of the first half.

Coutts gave away a silly free kick on the Postal left, the resultant cross into the box saw Insch lose his man at the front post, where his flick on was met by a Barons striker and knocked home. At least 3 lapses in concentration to send the home side in at half time with a 2-0 lead.

HALF TIME - AUCHNAGATT BARONS 2 - POSTAL ALC 0.

Some strong words at half time from the management saw Postal take to the pitch under no illusions what was required from them in the second half.

They wasted no time in pulling themselves back into the game after only 2 minutes of the second half. A corner from the Postal right was played out to the edge of the 18 yard box. It was then fed into the path of left back Coutts who launched a shot over the head of the home keeper from 30 yards out to score his second goal in two weeks. 2-1.

On 14 minutes, Robertson had a free header on the 6 yard box but it went wide.

Postal equalised 20 minutes into the half when a Carter driven ball into the box was knocked into the net by a Barons defender for an Own Goal. 2-2.

More strong running from right back Carter minutes later saw him chopped down just inside the box. The ref had a good look at where the foul took place before pointing to the spot. Malseed grabbed hold of the ball and duly stroked it home to the keepers left. 2-3.

Postal made it four 30 minutes into the half. A pass from sub Mackie on the left to Malseed in the box saw the striker swivel and slam the ball home to ease Postal's nerves. Good goal at a good time. 2-4.

With only minutes remaining, Postal scored a 5th. A shot from Robertson from distance was cleared up into the air and when it fell into the Baron's 6 yard box, Kydd was on hand for Postal to head home. 2-5.

FULL TIME - AUCHNAGATT BARONS 2 - POSTAL ALC 5

Man Of The Match - DANIEL MALSEED.

Overall, a much deserved win for Postal today. They dominated the match for most of the game, which made going in, 2 behind, at half time very frustrating for the Postal sideline.

Credit to Auchnagatt who battled away today but Postal showed bravery and character to attempt to play football today in difficult playing conditions and were ultimately rewarded for their efforts. Well done.
