POSTAL ALC 5 - CONTINENTAL 2 - KINGSFORD QUAICH - WEBSTER PARK - WED 23RD JULY

Second game for Postal in the Kingsford Cup, this time Continental would be the opponents.  Continental won last years clash of the Webster Park titans 3 - 0 so Postal knew they would not get it all their own way. 

The team would be rotated to give players more time on the pitch who didn't face up against Halliburton in the last match.

Postal kicked off and seen a Luca G back pass go out to allow the home side a corner kick which gladly for Postal came to nothing. 

6th minute Owen Patterson wins a towering header, ball landing to Alex who feeds in Harry who sees his shot well saved. 

9th minute confusion at the back for Conti and Doug tries a long range effort with the keeper off the line, shot goes wide. 

10th minute Conti try for goal from long range.  Ball goes well over the bar. 

19th minute the home side would take the lead.  Receiving the ball on the half way line, Harry skipped past 2 players heading for his own goal as he looked for a pass.  Robbed of the ball (which looked like a foul) Conti would take the ball and beat MacMillan from range.

A minute later Postal were level.  Great ball from Clark to Doug on the Postal right seen the winger cut back for the onrushing Scott who smashed the ball home off the post.  Great team goal.

25th minute Postal should have taken the lead.  Great cross from Harry to Sully seen the wingers shot well blocked. 

28th minute another great through ball from Clark finds Harry who takes the ball round the keeper, unfortunately a heavy touch seen the ball go out of play with the goal open. 

30th min Harry gets taken down by the Conti keeper in the box.  Doug Russell steps up and slots the ball home to give Postal the lead.

35th minute Sully gets the bal, races down the left leaving everyone in his wake.  Crosses the ball and find Doug back post who heads home.

36th min Harry holds up the ball well and plays in Stuart whos shot is saved by the keeper. 

38th min a Stuart cross sees Doug Russell take it on first time with a left foot volley however the ball goes wide of the target.

46th min Sully cuts in from the left and unleashes a rasping drive heading for the top right hand corner which is beaten away by the Conti keeper at full stretch. 

51st minute Maciver turns into prime Maradona in the middle of the park twisting and turning before unleashing a powerful shot at goal that the keeper saves. 

60th min Conti would pull a goal back.  Corner was met by number 3 who was unchallenged. 

Postal would continue to make chances however were thwarted by the Conti keeper to further stretch their lead.  This was until the 84th min when a Bruce Webster free kick was not attacked by either side and nestled in the back of the net.

90th min a great through ball from Maciver unleashes Abel who finished expertly past the home side keeper.
