POSTAL ALC 4-GLENTANAR REFLEX 2

Postal welcomed Glentanar Reflex to Webster Park on a roasting hot Aug Saturday afternoon. Glentanar have had a poor start to the season but they usually give Postal a good game and this was to be no different.

Glentanar started well and were unlucky on 3 minutes when they had a decent shout for a penalty when the ball appeared to strike Steer in the box. Luckily for Postal the ref waved play on.

They had another half chance on 4 minutes when the Reflex number 8 was allowed to stroll forward with the ball through the centre of the park and get a long shot away which went just wide of the post.

Postal veteran Ure calmed Postal's nerves a minute later thankfully. With the Reflex keeper trying to feed his full backs, Ure intercepted the right back dallying on the ball just outside the box. He stole the ball, drove in and toe blasted past the static Glentanar keeper. 1-0.

The goal of the game and probably the season came on 11 minutes. The ball dropped to Robertson in the middle of the park after a defensive clearance from Glentanar and from all of 40 yards he sent a pile driver shooting past the helpless keeper into the postage stamp. Brilliant goal. 2-0.

Glentanar gave themselves some hope two minutes later. On the Postal right, just outside the box, the Reflex number 9 blocked an attempted Patterson clearance, strode in unchallenged and dispatched past Laing. A poor goal to lose from the Postal defence. 2-1.

No more real chances of note the rest of the half but Postal certainly weren't at their best as they allowed Glentanar to get a foothold in the game.

HALF TIME - POSTAL ALC 2 - GLENTANAR REFLEX 1.

Postal started the second half much better and the half was only a minute old when Insch doubled their lead. A throw in from the Postal left by Ure was picked up by substitute Beattie (on for Law). His cross to the back post was met by Insch who forced it home. 3-1.

Ten minutes later Patterson had a header from a corner but it went just over the bar.

On 23 minutes Postal effectively killed the game when they got their fourth and it was Insch again on hand to score his second of the game after being slipped through on the keeper before dispatching low past the keeper. 4-1.

Annoyingly for the Postal goal difference, Postal let another soft goal in when they conceded a corner. Laing dropped the ball after coming to collect and the Reflex striker was on hand to knock home from 1 yard. 4-2.

Overall, Postal have played better this season and dropped points so it's particularly pleasing to pick up all 3 when we didn't set the heather alight. Another 4 goals for Postal today is also excellent work. Well Done.
