Postal ALC 0 - St Marnans 3 - Div1 North - Webster Park - 7th May 2025

Postal welcomed St Marnans to Webster Park on this bright Wednesday night.  The two teams had met previously in the season which ended in a one all draw, with Postal conceding in the last 5 minutes. 

With Grant Cormack injured in a freak incident at work David Finch took the number 1 shirt and Duncan MacKenzie reprised his role up top with McAuley working late.

St Marnans kicked off the encounter and on the 5th minute  the away side should have taken the lead.  A cleared corner for the opposition fell to number 8 who took on the Postal midfield and was brought down by captain Steele.  The resultant free kick was well saved by Finch in the Postal goal for another corner.  The resultant corner found number 18 who seen his header flash wide.

On the 8th minute Postal thought they had taken the lead.  Steele drove forward and released Wallace who crossed first time.  Ahmed out jumped the keeper however his header went wide of the target. 

14th minute Wallace drove forward with the ball, cutting the ball back to Russell who cut inside and seen his left footed shot well saved by the St Marnans keeper. 

17th minute Brechin ops to go long to Wallace who cant gain control of the ball.

20th minute St Marnans would take the lead.  Steele chipped the ball into the middle of the park, Wallace and Clark both left the ball for each other, the impressive number 8 nipped in to win the ball, stride forward and release a long range effort into the top corner via the post.  Great goal but avoidable for Postal.

On the 30th minute Postal should have levelled the game.  Wallace latching onto the ball in the box was upended, the official allowed play to continue however MacKenzie was unable to convert and the chance to level the tie gone.

37th minute a goal kick by the St Marnans goal keeper went unchallenged by Postal, out of shape the ball bounces through to number 6 who drives down the Postal right before shooting at goal.  Palmed out by Finch 11 nips in Infront of Russell to convert.

49th minute Russell crosses to Ahmed to cant connect with the ball.

50th min McAuley replaces Mackenzie up front.

60th minute Ahmed takes on the St Marnans defence and is fouled in the box.  McAuley steps up and sees his tame penalty saved by the keeper. 

70th minute Webster and Macrae replaced by Carter & Paterson. 

75th min 11 takes on Russell and beats Finch at his near post.
