Postal ALC began the match with composure, looking to impose themselves early on. The first real effort came in the 1st minute when Veitch tried his luck from long range, but his effort drifted harmlessly wide.

Newmachar responded in the 8th minute with a dangerous free kick that was expertly tipped over the bar by Cormack. From the resulting corner, their centre-half rose highest but could only head over, letting Postal off the hook.

The breakthrough came in the 18th minute following excellent pressing from Clark and Ahmed high up the pitch. Their pressure forced a turnover, allowing MacKenzie to collect the ball and quickly thread a superb pass into the path of Steele. Showing composure, Steele struck a low left-footed shot into the goalkeeper’s bottom left corner to give Postal a deserved 1–0 lead.

Postal looked dangerous on the counter, and in the 35th minute they nearly doubled their advantage. After defending a Newmachar free kick, Clark led a rapid break in a 3-on-2 situation. A deflection fell kindly to MacKenzie, but his effort was well saved by the keeper.

As halftime approached, Newmachar pushed forward, creating a chance in the 42nd minute, but their attackers could only fire over the bar.

Half-Time: Newmachar United 0 – 1 Postal ALC

The second half saw Newmachar come out with renewed intent. Early pressure resulted in a corner in the 46th minute, which Veitch initially cleared. The ball was recycled back into the box, but the resulting header lacked power and was comfortably gathered by Cormack.

Postal continued to threaten, though, with McAuley and Ahmed combining well in the 52nd minute. Ahmed drove into the box and forced a strong save from the keeper, who tipped his effort over the bar.

Newmachar created a few openings of their own. In the 50th minute, their number 7 beat Webster and cut inside, but his left-footed shot went wide. Another opportunity came in the 60th minute when a cross into the box found their number 10, whose header was easily collected by Cormack.

Postal had chances to put the game to bed. In the 62nd minute, Clark played a neat one-two with Steele before shooting wide. Shortly after, in the 65th minute, a Postal corner found Ahmed, whose header was on target but saved by the goalkeeper.

Newmachar continued to apply pressure, with a scrappy sequence in the 64th minute seeing two shots fired off target after a long throw caused confusion in the box.

Despite Postal’s resilience, the home side found a late equaliser in the 89th minute. A corner into the box led to a scramble, and Newmachar managed to bundle the ball over the line to make it 1–1.

Tensions rose in stoppage time, with Harry receiving a booking in the 90th minute, but Postal held on to secure a point.

Full-Time: Newmachar United 1 – 1 Postal ALC

Superb effort from all the Postal players tonight having only played 2 days previous.  Although disappointed to lose a late goal and not take the 3 points the effort the team put in was excellent and polar opposite to the second half on Saturday.  7 days off as the team have no fixture on Wednesday and a free date on Saturday for the Perth Races.

FT 1– 1

MoM – Sultan Ahmed

Goals – James Steele

Booked – Adam Veitch, Harry McAuley
