OPPOSITION MOTM – N/A

As unbelievable as this may sound, Postal’s last game was over 6 months ago so although changing rooms are not open, players are turning up fully stripped and supporters are being asked to stay away, it was good to be back playing in this first friendly of the 20/21 season away to Kemnay Youth.

Postal gave debut games to new signings Riddell, Hunter, Mewes and Dowbekin with Cain coming on in the second half.

Postal dominated the first half of the match with only the keeper and some poor finishing stopping them scoring.

After only 3 minutes Dowbekin made the keeper work with a good shot coming in from the Postal right. Law followed up with a good run into the box but his cross went across the face of the area with no takers from Postal to put the ball away.

The Kemnay keeper made another good save after 23 minutes when Frampton smashed in a shot after coming in from the left but the keeper dived to his right and made a good save to push it low past the post.

On 26 minutes Postal thought they had a decent shout for a penalty. Frampton took the ball past his man into the box and with only the keeper to beat appeared to be bundled down when going the round the keeper. The referee waved play on though.

At this point in the game Postal were doing particularly well down the left with Frampton and Mackie combining well.

A long range Carter effort on 28 minutes went past the post after the defender did well to win the ball back in midfield.

Postal also saw long range efforts from Ure and a free kick from new boy Riddell go over the bar before they finally took the lead on 43 minutes. Ure was sent into the box one on one with the keeper and the veteran midfielder made no mistake to slot home low past the keeper. 0-1.

HALF TIME – KEMNAY YOUTH 0 - POSTAL ALC 1

Postal made 8 changes at the start of the second half which seemed to disrupt the flow of their game, allowing Kemnay to come more into the match without really troubling Laing in goal.

Maciver had a half chance two minutes into the half when he saw a shot from distance go past the post.

Law also had a long range shot ten minutes later which went over the bar.

Beattie had a good chance to score 25 minutes into the second half when good work by Maciver saw him play the ball into Beattie’s feet but his shot lacked power and was blocked.

34 minutes of the second half saw Maciver sent through one on one with the keeper but his shot went over the bar.

The home side equalised on 38 minutes after a run and shot from the left was deflected into goal. 1-1

Postal thought they had nicked the game on 43 minutes when Cain was sent in on goal after a poor pass back from a Kemnay defender. He kept his composure to shoot home under the keepers body. 1-2.

Kemnay equalised almost directly from kick off though to finish the match. 2-2.

Overall some nice football at times from Postal today. After 6 months there was always going to be a bit of ring rust but brilliant to be back.
