OPPOSITION MOTM – P.Frampton

A late change of ref for this Div 1 North fixture saw the game kick off 5 minutes late.

Postal had to make a change to their team lines just before kick off when L.Giulianotti injured himself during the warmup.  Raynard took his place in centre defence.

Postal gave a first start to new signing Euan Brechin in centre midfield.

First 5 minutes Postal started well and were passing the ball about OK, the rest of the half………….not so much.

BSFC had a number of corners but didn’t really threaten Cormack in goal although it’s fair to say they shaded the first half proceedings.

Postal had the best chance of the half, though, just before half time.  Postal broke down the left, Bruce Webster chipped the ball into the path of Steele who was sent through on goal.  He took his shout early but it hit the post and away to safety.

HALF TIME – POSTAL ALC 0 – BSFC 0

The second half was all BSFC.  Postal couldn’t get up the park.  Couldn’t clear their lines when they had numerous chances to do so.  Couldn’t pass the ball 10 yards without hitting off a BSFC player first.

The one chance Postal had, was a cracker though.  Frampton was played through on the Postal left, 8 minutes into the half.  With nobody near him he decided to “shoot” from just inside the box.  Only he will be able to say what he was trying to do, but what he did do was trundle a side-footed pass-back to their keeper with Webster wide open on his right.

Although BSFC were dominating they didn’t have too many “big” chances either, although their number 11 missed an open goal from 6 yards out when he ballooned over the bar.

Just when Postal thought they had stollen a point, disaster hit on the 90th minute of the match.

Home side got in behind Postal down Postal’s left, sent cross in and just before the forward knocked into the net Carter pulled him back.  Pen.  BSFC scored the pen to take all 3 points to sicken Postal.

Full Time – BSFC 1 – POSTAL ALC 0

Overall, a real sickner of a result to lose the game on 90 minutes but, truth be told, Postal didn’t turn up today and the better team, on the day, deservedly won the match.

Only Cormack in goal for Postal gets passmarks.  Everyone else way off it……….including the manager who should have done better with the substitutions and the shape when it was obvious how poor Postal were playing.

Next Match league leaders Great Western United away.
