OPPOSITION MOTM – N/A

Covid friendly number 12.

Postal welcomed Glentanar Reflex to Webster Park on a scorching hot summer afternoon.

Postal dominated proceedings from the beginning to the end of the match.

The first ten minutes Postal were passing the ball particularly well and Glentanar were struggling to get anywhere near the ball.

Postal took the lead 15 minutes into the match. A through ball on the Postal left found Insch. His cut back found Law alone on the 6 yard box and all he had to do was roll it into the empty net. 1-0.

On 20 minutes a good run down the right by Stuart saw him cut the ball back to Cotovici. His cross to the back post was struck well by Insch but the keeper turned the shot round the post.

On 35 minutes Cotovici put Postal 2 nil up. He stole the ball off the Reflex left back then confidently dispatched high past the keeper. Good goal. 2-0.

Postal could have wrapped the game up on 44 minutes when Lamb found himself free at the back post but his header lacked power and fell into the keepers hands.

HALF TIME – POSTAL ALC 2 – GLENTANAR REFLEX 0

Postal put on all 4 subs at half time.

The second half turned into a goal-fest.

Starting a minute into the half, Stuart cut the ball back to Greig Davidson in the box. He then laid it into the path of Hunter who made no mistake in firing a powerful shot past the keeper from about ten yards out. Game effectively over. 3-0.

4 minutes into the half, Insch (looking very much in the mood today as apposed to in a mood) waltzed through the tired looking Glentanar defence but his shot hit the post and away to safety.

Postal made it four, 3 minutes later when a decent Mackie cross from the left was met with a Hunter bullet header giving the keeper no chance. Good goal capping off an impressive performance from the ever-improving young player. 4-0.

8 minutes into the half and another chance for Hunter. A good ball over the top by Patterson was latched onto by Insch who played in Hunter but his shot was miss-hit and the keeper saved.

Two minutes later, Postal made it 5-0. Patterson headed a corner and while it was looking to be going in, Law got the final touch to it.

14 minutes into the half, Postal fell asleep on the left and a simple through ball over the top of the napping defence saw the Reflex number 11 latch on to the ball and fire past Cormack. Lazy defending. 5-1.

Hunter, again, passed up the chance of his hat-trick 19 minutes into the half when he found himself one-on-one with the keeper but his shot was sent straight to him and saved.

Postal scored their 6th 5 minutes later. Good work from Insch again down the left saw him cross to Davidson who saw his initial shot bounce off the post but he knocked home the rebound for his first Postal goal. Well done. 6-1.

Cotovici had a couple of chances to score soon after but the keeper made a double save from the striker when Insch screaming for a pass.

Glentanar pulled another back ten minutes before the end of the game when the ball bounced off Cormack in goal and the striker scored from just outside the box. 6-2.

On 40 minutes Lamb scored an almost identical free kick to the one scored by Stuart in our last game. Over the wall, and over the keeper’s head in the middle of the goal. Well-deserved from Lamb, captain from the start of the match today and who very much controlled things in the middle of the park from beginning to end. 7-2.

Overall, a very impressive passing and scoring performance from Postal today in boiling conditions. Well done.
