Postal took on JSXI for the second time this season. This time at Rubislaw.
Postal started the game well and dominated the opening proceedings. They had their first chance in the opening minute. A long up and under from Baxter saw the two JS centre backs miss the ball and Clark was sent in on goal. His shot lacked any power and the keeper easily picked it up.
On 13 minutes, good work down the Postal right by Ahmed and MacDonald saw the ball get cut back to the in-running Steele. His shot went just by the post.
On 30 minutes Cormack pulled off a great save for Postal after a snapshot in the box and he pushed the ball over the bar front point blank.
From the resultant corner, JS took the lead. The cross came into the box, the Postal defenders all ducked out the way and a JS player at the back post nodded home. 1-0
Postal should have equalised on 36 minutes when Abel met a cross and headed back to Brechin, but his shot was sent over the path.
HALF TIME – JSXI 1 - Postal ALC 0
Second half saw Postal huff and puff but rarely caused the JS keeper any worries.
They had one good chance when Steele sprung the JS trap at the start of the second half but his shot went past the post.
5 minutes from the end, with Postal on the attack, JS countered. Patterson tried to get back and intercept but the striker hit the deck. The ref decided it was a goal scoring opportunity and sent Patterson off.
JS scored a second a minute later to kill the game. 2-0.
Final Result – JSXI 2 – Postal ALC 0
Overall, Postal huffed and puffed and effort couldn’t be questioned, but the quality was nowhere near tonight to break down a hard working JSXI team.
